Today’s photo is dedicated to my friend and colleague Scott. Scott likes Christmas, rather a lot. He’s the one in the office who gives us a running countdown of how many months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds it is until 25th December ALL YEAR ROUND. Fill your boots up Scott, and I wish you a very merry Winter Festival of Consumerism. Long may our economy depend upon it.
There’s a very large part of me which can’t believe that this is my photo of the day for December 3rd 2010. My daughter went to school today dressed in tinsel, a Santa hat and a flashing “Merry Christmas” badge – hopefully some other clothes too, it was rather chilly out there. When I was scanning around the house this evening for something to shoot, my eyes fell upon this.
I decided to shoot with my Lensbaby to add that distinctive blurred look. It just happened to have my home made aperture ring installed so I decided to go ahead and shoot with that. As a consequence I know that the exposure was 1/200 of a second, but all I can say is that the aperture was “f-squiggle” – the aperture ring is cut with three wavy lines across it and I have no idea just how much light they let in.
It seems very early to be posting a Christmas themed photo, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. I guess it’s getting close to time for me to make the annual trip up into the loft to bring the tree and decorations down and fill what little space we have in the living room with lots of glitzy tat *sigh*
