Bradgate Park is full of old, gnarled oak trees, many of them hundreds of years old. I went out for a walk through the snow there with my sister on Boxing Day and one of them ended up as my photo of the day.
This poor old tree had been blasted by lightning and had a hollowed out trunk but was still alive and able to support this huge long limb which stretched out for maybe thirty feet or so to one side of the trunk. It looked like it shouldn’t be able to support it.
