Project 365 – Day Two Hundred and Seventy Nine – Jacks

day 279

Despite making sure I packed my point and shoot camera before heading into work today, I managed to return home with no real prospects for a “shot of the day”, so the usual hunt around the house occurred this evening.

I settled upon a box containing three simple games which my daughter loves. It has tiddlywinks, pick up sticks and the jacks which I settled on as my subject for tonight. I took a few shots at different apertures to try and settle upon the depth of field I liked best. I’m a sucker for narrow depth of field, but up close this can get very narrow indeed. I wanted some lack of definition in the jacks in the background, but not for them to be a total blur.

Maybe I will return to the other two games in the box for future shots when I’m struggling for a subject in the evening.

Oh, and after all that dismal weather last week when I was gnashing my teeth to go out and take some photos, this afternoon was gloriously sunny but it was my first day back at work so all I could do was glance at it from time to time out of the office window.

Canon 7D, EF 35mm f2, 3.2 seconds at f6.3.

    • Thank you for taking a look and leaving a comment :^) I keep trying to improve my “arranging” skills and it’s not really working out too well – hehe. I can see something “looking right” when it’s already there for me, but when I have to arrange things into a pleasing formation I can never seem to get it right. Glad that I got the depth of field pretty much as I wanted it though. And, I think I’ve just come up with another photo idea using these as a subject – bonus :^)

    • And it seems that I have totally forgotten what it was :^( I shall have to sleep on it and see if anything springs back into my mind. I really should make a note when I get an idea for a shot then I wouldn’t be struggling for a photo like I am again tonight.
