Project 365 – Day Two Hundred and Ninety Four – Craters

day 294

Through the eye of the macro lens the dimples of the golf ball become the craters of an alien moon… if you squint a bit… sort of… okay, I’m pushing it…

I had to re-shoot this no less than three times. The first time around there were lots of flecks of dirt all over the ball which I couldn’t see with the naked eye and were only really visible when viewing the photos on the big screen of the computer. Second time around the ball was still wet and again I couldn’t tell until I got it on the big screen. Third time around the ball still looks like it’s wet, but it’s to a lesser extent and it’s getting late at night so enough is enough.

Yes, it would have been easier to use a brand new golf ball. No, I don’t play golf. This ball was found by my daughter during a walk through the park a while ago.

Canon 7D, EF 100mm f2.8 macro, 1/40 at f16, Nissin Di866 flash fitted with home made snoot.
