Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras, Pancake Day, Lent Eve (?), Fat Tuesday. I’m not religious, but I can never resist a good excuse to make pancakes. These were cooked (and eaten) this evening as a team effort with my daughter Michelle. She likes honey on hers, but I did manage to persuade her to try one with freshly squeezed lime juice and icing sugar, which was my chosen filling, erm – topping? Accompaniment!
I made a bit of a schoolboy error in shooting this. Last night I was out and about in the pitch darkness and ended up taking a photo of Orion over the fields at Wistow. I’d had my ISO set at 1600 for that and totally forgot about it this evening. I have to say that if I’d shot this at ISO 1600 on my 20D the photo would have been so noisy as to be next to useless. How noise control has improved over the last few years! I did apply a little bit of noise reduction to this photo taken with my 7D, but I think I could have actually got away without using any to be honest.
Canon 7D, EFS 15-85mm IS, 1/125 at f6.3, ISO 1600 (!!!), Nissin Di866 flash.
