Project 365 – Day Three Hundred and Fifty – Cinnamon Sticks

day 350

Little did I know when I shot yesterday’s photo just what lay ahead of me in the next twenty-four hours or so. Maybe I should have let Monkey do his worst!

I ended up with toothache keeping me awake nearly all night. I managed at most a couple of hours of sleep thanks to combining ibuprofen and paracetamol. However it was clear that I needed to get back to the dentist for the third time since last Friday. I was there diagnosed with a gum abscess around my back tooth. Armed with anti-biotics and pain killers I made my way into work where I managed to get on with things before I started to shiver and shake. I’m not sure whether it was a reaction to the antibiotics or just the effect of my body fighting off the infection. By the time I got home I was feeling lousy as hell and just headed for bed, still shivering and shaking and feeling feverish.

I managed to haul myself out of bed at around midnight in order to try and take a photo. I don’t think this is the worst I’ve taken for this project, but it’s certainly far from my best. I can excuse myself, I was feeling like hell. If I was approaching this shot normally then I would have taken more time to get some interesting lighting, arranged the cinnamon sticks with a bit more care and maybe added some extra context such as a heap of ground cinnamon. I thought the curls of the cinnamon sticks would be enough to carry it, but these were maybe not the most attractively curled specimens I’ve ever seen.

I’ve spent most of today in bed, and I’m so bad at being ill. I hate lying around in bed, it seems like such a waste of time. However I’m wondering whether I’ll manage anything much better for today’s photo despite feeling quite a bit better now.
